SCAD x The Mill
② Week 7
Trail Mix
Feedback from Mentors (Class 13 )
1. Shot 01B: Nothing happening on screen, light is off balance.
2. Shot 04: Still see planets? and Cashew by itself appears too quick in the edit.
3. Shot 01A: Keep the impact smoke effect.
4. Shot 03B: What is the plan for this shot? Consider movement of the package, and add shadows, light, or reflections to make it feel integrated.
5. Ensure continuity between backgrounds, and Make the quilt match the story, especially in terms of color and brightness.
Changes made:
1. Shot 01B: Add small motions and fix the lighting balance.
2. Shot 04: Remove planets if distracting and slow down the cashew’s movement.
3. Shot 01A: Keep the smoke effect and refine it for better interaction.
4. Shot 03B: Add movement to the package and adjust shadows and reflections to blend it in.
5. Background & Quilt: Ensure backgrounds match across shots and adjust the quilt’s color/brightness to fit the story.

5. Lighting and Rendering
WIP of Lighting
After adding the new hdr there is still a big difference with the footage light, so I still manually added some light sources to match the footage light.
6. Rendering
Just like in previous weeks, I’ve rendered all the elements separately and uploaded them to Dropbox. Following Wyatt’s feedback from last week’s comp, I added motion blur to the packaging animation. There are two versions of the package falling uploaded—one with motion blur and one without.
